How to Use Flowers in Cocktail Drinks

Take a cue from the best cocktail bars in Vancouver and add flowers in your cocktail drinks. If you are making a cocktail in Vancouver and you want it to not just look impressive but also taste impressive, you might want to tap into the benefits of flowers.

When trying to incorporate flowers in your cocktail in Vancouver, the first thing you should do is find out which flowers are safe to use. Pansies are often used in cocktail drinks because they lend a nice color to the drink. These are edible but don’t really add strong flavors to the drink, although the stem can emit a mild mint flavor.

Gypsophila is another favorite. Also known as baby’s breath, this has a sweet fragrance that gives drinks a citrusy flavor. Lavender is also played around with a lot.

There are many ways you can add flowers to a cocktail in Vancouver. The simplest is to use it as a garnish. Those flowers that have a mild flavor can just be used as an added garnish.

They can be candied. Dip them in sugar and bake or cook them to allow the sugar to cling to the flavor. You can also infuse drinks with them. Vodka is a good choice for infusions. Leave the flower in the liquor for hours to allow the flavors and aroma to blend in. Some flowers can also be dried because their aroma and flavors tend to intensify when dried.

Make sure you use pesticide and wax-free flowers when experimenting. You can also find more cocktail drinks inspiration from The Alchemist.

Boba and Liquor – Do They Work?

It seems like every day, we see a boba shop opening. We’re probably not going to see the end of the boba craze any time. They are everywhere, not just in drinks. You can even find them on desserts and pizza!
But one thing you have to try is boba in your cocktail drink. This isn’t something you can find in cocktail bars in Vancouver, but one you can try experimenting at home. Here are some of the things you can do:
  1. Infuse Vodka in boba
Vodka is great for infusions. But rather than your usual fruits, swap them out with boba instead. Cook black tapioca pearls and place them in a bowl. Pour just enough of your favorite brand of Vodka to cover the tapioca pearls. Leave it there to infuse for about 15 minutes. Now put this on your cocktails for an interesting mix of flavors and texture.
  1. Make a vanilla chai bubble tea incorporated with booze
Make vanilla bean syrup by mixing a cup of sugar with equal portions of water. Slice the vanilla bean and scrape out the insides. Put it on the pan. Bring the pan to a boil over medium-high temperature. Let it simmer for 15 minutes until you reach a syrupy consistency.
In another pan, cook your tapioca pearls. Once cooked, add it to the vanilla bean syrup. Make your chai tea. Put boba pearls with the vanilla bean syrup in a glass. Pour the chai tea over it. Add Baileys Irish Cream. Top it with whipped cream and you are great to go!
